Lush Toothy Tabs: Ultrablast...

I heard about these babies from Lorraine over at John, It's Only Make-up! and just had to try them out!
My teeth.. ugh where do I start? I suffered from a not so rare disorder called 'having braces' for almost three years of my life and when that supposedly happy day came that my sexy dentist took them off.. I almost cried! Although my teeth were perfectly straight I still managed to resemble a horse..
Then began the chain smoking, coffee drinking, junk food eating years. (which still haven't ended and probably won't end any time soon!)
So let's just say my teeth have pretty much been abused and instead of being pearly whites they're more of a stained yellow! Which is why I was quick to head into Lush and pick up some toothy tabs.

With the help of the lovely shop assistant I chose 'Ultrablast' as I wanted something minty.
I suffer from awful morning breath.. mainly on the mornings when I've been out smoking and drinking the night before and threw myself into the bed in a drunken pile without even brushing.. (I'm ashamed to admit that this has been happening more often than I'd like!) These are known to fight bad breath so I immediately picked them up.

Toothy tabs are little tablets, they cost around E3.50 in Lush and are a tooth cleanser...
You take one of the little tabby's and chew it between your teeth (Like a rabbit) Avoid it touching your tongue as it hasn't got the greatest taste in the world.. When it's all crunched up wet your toothbrush and brush away. The powder foams up giving your teeth and mouth a great clean and leaving your breath minty fresh and your teeth feeling super smooth and clean when you rub your tongue over them.
The tabs are also great for whitening as they contain bicarbonate of soda and these Ultrablast ones contain more crazy cleaning ingredients such as Wasabi, Pea powder and peppermint oil.
I know it sounds rank but they actually don't taste bad at all, they kind of taste like that weird mouth wash the dentist gives you at the end of a visit.
I've been really happy with the results, I've only been using them a week so I haven't noticed a massive change in the colour of my teeth but they rid my mouth of that smoky taste that is so hard to get rid of and leave my teeth squeaky clean! For such a reasonable price I definitely recommend picking some up next time your near a Lush.

Have you ladies ever tried Toothy tabs? If so what do you think?

Cold Sore Cures!...

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this before, but I am the queen of cold sores! No joke!
I always get them and it's super annoying! Not only do I get one cold sore, oh no, I start off with one, which eventually spreads into 5 and I end up having to walk around in public looking like a blowfish with herpes!
They have to be the most annoying thing in the world! They're painful, they're ugly, they stick around for weeks, sometimes I get the at the edge of my lips so I find it hard to even open my mouth! You can't cover them in makeup (or they're guaranteed to spread) and you certainly can't wear lipgloss! It's sick!
Lately though I've been trying to avoid getting them, nipping it at the bud, and if one does happen to bravely pop up on my face it's dealt with immediately.. I guess you could call me the Godfather of cold sores!
So here's a list of some cures that I've found handy for getting rid of Cold sores...

Ice...

People had been telling me for years that if I felt a cold sore coming to put ice on it immediately.. I never believed them.. I mean what's a bit of frozen water gonna do? A lot! If you start to feel the makings of a cold sore on your lip, get some ice cubes out of the freezer and wrap them in a cloth or some tissue.. Hold it to the spot for 15-20 minutes at a time every few hours throughout the day.. This stops the cold sore from breaking through the skin and seems to.. put it to sleep, If you still feel the cold sore coming just keep pressing ice on it and eventually it should go away.. (it did for me anyway!) If the cold sore has already broken the skin this probably won't work as well but in my experience it worked wonders for the cold sore that was creeping up on me out of nowhere!

L-Lysine

I'm not sure if any of you done Home economics back in school but if you did you'll probably remember learning the Amino Acids, Lysine being one of them! These Vitamins help to fight cold sores and mouth ulcers. I think your supposed to take one a day but I don't take them in fear of becoming Immune, Then how will I get rid of my cold sores? When I feel a cold sore 'a' comin I just pop two of these babies twice a day. Thanks to Lysine I haven't had a cold sore in months and I'm delighted! Even if that cold sore does pop up continue taking these to speed up the recovery and keep the herpes simplex virus from replicating.

Toothpaste
So once the cold sore has came out there's usually one thing on my mind.. Getting rid of it! And fast!
I always pop some toothpaste on it at night before I go to bed as it acts as a disinfectant and helps to dry it out speeding up the healing process. It does sting when you put it on but if it's gonna get rid of the little fecker I'm willing to endure some pain!

Perfume
If I have to go out and need to put make-up on I always spray perfume on my cold sores to prevent them from spreading. It freezes the infection and although it stings and you may end up swallowing some not so nice tasting liquid it's well worth it. Also make sure to disinfect all of your make-up brushes after using them as they're probably full of cold sore bacteria!

Compeed cold sore patches
These babies claim to get rid of cold sores in three days.. that didn't happen for me but I still found them great for applying make-up.. When I had a christening to go to last year and had broken out in cold sores all over my lips I covered them with these patches and put my make-up over them.. It was really effective and you couldn't even tell that I had any cold sores.

Sudocrem
Again if you already have a cold sore sudocrem is great for drying it out.. just pop it on before you go to sleep, (you might end up with white patches all over you pillow) and it will help to dry out the sore and again speed up the process.

I hope this post helps you ladies and I highly recommend picking up the Lysine tablets as they prevent the cold sores in the first place. They're available from Holland & Barrett and in most pharmacies. If your not into swallowing large pills, man up and take them! They truly are life savers!

Nick Gentry Floppy Disk Artist...

Floppy disk artist? What a title!.. Try saying it fast... lol!
I've had a little case of.. I guess you could call it writers block.. or Bloggers Block..
I carry a blogging notebook with me everywhere I go in case a crazy idea for a post comes up.
Usually this notebook has page long lists of idea's... but lately it's been looking a little more blank than usual...
So I got back into stumbling on StumbleUpon as it always gives me great recipe idea's and helps me to find other great blog's, artists and fashion designers.
This time I came across Nick Gentry and what can I say.. He is my kind of artist.
There's not really much I can say about his work as the website says it all.. so I'll do a nice lazy copy & Paste job...
'Nick Gentry is a British graduate of Central St Martins and has exhibited in the UK, USA and Europe. As part of a generation that grew up surrounded by floppy disks, VHS tapes, polaroids and cassettes, he is inspired by the sociological impact of a new internet culture. '

I absolutely love his stuff it's pretty epic indeed! I had to rob all the pics from Google Images but if you want to see more check out his website here!

Hope you all had a lovely Weekend :)
Mine consisted of sitting on my arse stumbling upon great artists! lol

When Sheep Dress Like Shepards: The Lana edition!

Lana Del Rey has taken the world by storm with her debut Album 'Born to die' and her breathtaking looks.
I can't help but notice that the public seem to have a love/hate relationship with her.. she's like marmite.. as Simon would say.
Despite me normally hating most artists that come out of the charts I can't help but love her unusual voice and intriguing looks and fashion sense. It's not every day that an album comes out in which you love every song so she automatically gained my respect.
So for my latest 'when shepards dress like sheep' post I decided to focus on Lana and her quirky fashion sense.. Here are some outfit replication idea's...

Lana has a very refreshing summery side to her style and likes to wear crop tops, shorts and converse..
This front tie shirt from Asos reminded me very much of Lana and would look great paired with these denim shorts, also from Asos..

Again with the little denim shorts.. the ones above are from Dolly Bow Bow Boutique (who are now starting to do Apparel, and at reasonable prices too! Woo!)  White Converse are a must if you want to be anything like Lana.. No that's not true they're just a must for me seeing as I've been lusting after them for months! The ones above are from Schuh.. The adorable polka dot crop is from Asos and is actually on sale so if you're interested I'd head over.. (it's under £10!!).

I'm not too mad about the outfit Lana's wearing above.. (Mainly because her Chino's are either too big or need a nice steaming..) but I do like the concept of the chino's, colourful shirt and cons!
The Chino's above are three quarter length and are from River Island, the floral shirt is from H&M and the grey cons are from Schuh.. (I just want them in every colour God damn!)

Spotted this beauty in American Apparel the other day and it instantly reminded me of Lana's huge rose jacket.. (well, a more toned down and wearable version..) I absolutely love it!

And again with the denim shorts! Absolutely loving the tankini she's wearing and I found this similar one in River Island.. I never wear tankini's to the beach/pool on holidays.. I usually wear skimpy little bikini's in order to get the best tan possible! Lately though, I've been loving the idea of wearing tankini's and shorts this summer.. I mean we wear rompers don't we? So why not?

Now as much as I love Lana's flower head pieces I don't think I'm high fashion enough to wear one out in public.. (although I plan on trying!) so I found this coloured one and this white and pearl one in Accessorize.

And lastly the flower skirt and shirt combination which although I usually hate anything floral, I love!
The skirt is from Boohoo.com and the white shirt is from Topshop.. I have it in Black and get so much wear out of it so I always recommend the chiffon shirts in any colour from topshop!

What do you ladies think of Lana's music and style? I'll leave you with my Favourite Lana song..
Have a nice weekend :)

Get the Louis Look...

Back in January I did a post called New York to Paris to London to Milan to Your Wardrobe... in which I tried to replicate Spring Summer looks which were fresh off the runway, at high street prices!
For tonight's post I decided I'd do pretty much the same but with one of my favourite collections, Louis Vuitton.
The Louis Vuitton collections was so pretty and it's main properties were pastel colours and lace..
making it so easy to replicate especially now that 'coincidentally' white lace has been popping up in every high street store!

I have to admit I'm loving this look and plan on filling my summer wardrobe with a few staple lace pieces..
So I had a nose in three of my favourite places to shop, River Island, Topshop and Asos, and here's what I found to give you the Louis look this summer!

River Island

Pretty mint lace skirt...

Topshop

ASOS

Might I just take a moment to mention what a stunner that blonde Asos model is? Grrr not one bit jealous! lol..
So what are you ladies thinking of the Louis look? Are you going to be packing some lace pieces into your suitcases this summer?|
