Bittersweet

I hope you ladies all had a fabulous Christmas! I certainly did, I got spoiled and had some well needed quality time with my massive family, not to mention I ate my bodyweight in yummy food!

Owls, the galaxy, and grungy kitty's are all the rage these days..
While doing some cheeky Christmas stumbling I came across a fabulous little website that sells the most amazing jumpers for €50, which for a warm, trendy jumper that would be the focal point of any outfit sounds fair, and they ship worldwide!
I literally want every one so it was extremely hard to narrow it down and decide which ones to show, but here are a few of my favourites!

With the freezing cold weather and frequent storms going on at the moment here in Dublin big funky jumpers are just what I need to stay warm and still look trendy!

Loving Ganesha!

For those of you who may not know, Ganesha is a beautiful, widely worshipped deity in the Hindu religion. The remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom. The stunning elephant headed icon is strikingly beautiful and I've been seeing it a lot lately!

I was having a browse in the ever expensive Urban outfitters the other day and fell in love with these stunning tee's and jumpers.

This of course lead me on a little ebay and Etsy adventure to find some nice Ganesha pieces!

Like these beautiful meditation candles that I'd love to have in my bedroom!
See them here!

Then these beautiful earrings..

Before long I was on a full whack jewelry hunt, finding this necklace...

..and this pretty little pendant!

Lastly, something I've been lusting over for months now is a new bedroom, and a beautiful new Ganesha tapestry would be ideal on the wall!

What do you ladies think of the Ganesha? Are you, like me, obsessed?

Mariano Fortuny Y Madrazzo

Excuse my shortage of blog posts this week! I've been getting loads of shifts in work (more dolla bills woo!) and now I'm just waiting for payday so that I can finish my Christmas shopping and start wrapping and giving! :)
I'm constantly writing about the runway and I love finding fresh, young designers. Today, for a change, I'm going back in time to take a look at a historical designer. Mariano Fortuny was Spanish and opened his couture house in 1906, it lived on until 1946.
His designs were inspired by the past, by the light, airy clothing of greek women that clung to the body and accentuated the natural curves and shape of a woman's body.
Rebelling against the style lines that were the norm in this era, Fortuny was responsable for creating the Delphos gown, a shift dress made of hand pleated, delicate silk and weighed down by glass beads that held the shape and flowed on the body. He also made his own dyes and pigments using ancient methods.

I'd be delighted to see styles like these flaunted on the red carpet today!
They're just timeless and unbelievably elegant and chic!
What do you ladies think of them?

William Morris and Lush

William Morris was an english textile desifner, artist and writer best known for his Liberty prints,
flatly using line, color and abhorrence of realistic, three dimensional shading.
I learned about his prints in fashion school and upon getting a job in Lush a few months back I was delighted to see that a section of their hand wrapped Christmas gifts this year are based on his victorian floral designs and elegant prints.

I especially love this last gift, Winter Garden. It includes three of my favourite products, the Rose Jam shower gel, Ro's Argan body conditioner (which are amazing when mixed together) and then of course the nicest smelling thing in the world.. Sultana of Soap, all packed in a beautiful bauble that can be hung on the tree for many Christmases to come!
Which is your favourite?

Fashion Icon: Dita Von Teese

What does the term Fashion Forward mean to you?
To me a Fashion Forward person is someone who keeps up with trends, but makes them their own.
Someone who isn't afraid to delve into the past, or predict the future to create a new trend.
Someone who knows who they are and and incorporates their personality into their wardrobe.
Someone who is unique, and not afraid to take risks with what they wear.
Ladies and Gentlemen... Dita Von Teese.
A successful business woman, a burlesque dancer, and a lover of all things 1940's, She truly is what I'd call a Fashion forward, Fashion Icon.

What do you think of Dita's style? Which of the above is your favourite look?

Sweetest Thing Lingerie

The day La Senza closed down in Dublin was a sad day for us lassies.
I remember thinking to myself, 'Where the heck am I gonna get my undies now? And if the day ever comes that I have a man in my life, where the heck am I gonna get sexy dress up goods?'
I have to say I still haven't gotten over it. Marks and Spencers have some lovely ranges, but I find them a little too old for my taste, Ann Summers is amazing, but out of my budget.. and I must be an in between size in Penneys, as bra's are always either too big, or too small for me there! Well I've just come across Sweetest things Lingerie, and I like what I'm seeing!
The company stock everything from bra sets, hoisery and swimwear (There is a God!) to costumes and corsets and I have to mention that the prices are amazing!
So weather it's a treat for yourself, your partner or even a lovely Christmas present for one of your gals, here is a look at some of my favourites!

Christmas Presents: €20 Budget

Christmas Presents: €20 Budget

I don't know about you ladies but I love buying cute, quirky gifts that I know my friends will love!
If you're on that not too tight, just right, €20 budget this year here are a few idea's!

A clutch bag is a great road to go down as, who doesn't need one? Best to opt for a nice coloured one, keep away from the blacks because who doesn't own a black clutch? A lovely pink one like the on above is perfect!

All my friends are alcoholics. There. I said it. So I'm sure they'd be more than happy to receive this fluffy little flask that they can shove down their tops and sneak into clubs. Damn thats classy.

Myself, my sister and what seems to be the rest of the world are obsessing over pugs at the moment! They're right on trend and I've been seeing them everywhere! I'm loving the adorable camel coloured pug beanie above for all your canine obsessed friends.

Earphones, who doesn't need a pair? I go through about five sets a year and a day without them is a lonely one. The ones above are leopard print and covered in diamonds.. How fab?

I spotted this Nutella recipe book in Urban Outfitters the other day and almost fainted with excitement. My love for Nutella, (mainly in spoon form) is growing daily and this book includes the thirty best things you can create with it!

The stylish galaxy hat would be perfect for one of your braver friends, who'd actually wear it of course!

Banksy wall and piece is probably the best twenty euro I've ever spent in my life and if you have any art and graffiti loving friends I definitely suggest buying it for them! I've probably read it over fifty times and keep it beside my bed for times when I'm running low on inspiration!

Of course I'm going to mention something from Lush, I work there and stare at the wall of gifts every day, wishing I could have them all! Winter garden is in the shape of a Christmas ball decoration and includes some of my favourite, rose scented products, Helping hands hand cream, Sultana of Soap, Rose Jam Shower gel and the amazing Ro's Argan body conditioner. All of this and you can hang it on the tree when you're done!

Lastly, who doesn't love a warm pair of slippers this time of year? The ones above are terribly foxy... excuse the pun!
